Why is the wedding ring worn on the left?

An ancient tradition

Have you ever noticed that the wedding ring is traditionally worn on the left hand? The ancient Egyptians and Romans believed in the existence of the Vena Amoris, a vein connecting the left ring finger directly to the heart. This vein, also known as the vein of love, symbolized an intimate and deep bond between the spouses.

Over the centuries, this tradition has been perpetuated. Wearing the wedding ring on the left hand has thus become a symbolic gesture, representing love and commitment, always close to the heart.

But this tradition is not universal. In some countries such as Germany, Spain or Russia, the wedding ring is worn on the right hand, a symbol of strength and a solemn oath.

Whether worn on the left or right, the wedding ring remains a powerful symbol of love, fidelity and connection between two people. A jewel that, through the ages and cultures, tells a unique love story.
